A message about Road safety
To parents/carers of Year 7 children who are travelling to and from school independently for the first time, please remind them of road safety principles. Local statistics show that it is eleven and twelve-year-olds who are at higher risk of accidents because they are unfamiliar with the roads and they are easily distracted by peers.
We regularly remind students about road safety but please reinforce the message at home. Fluorescent strips on coats and bags make a significant difference. If your child is cycling to school, helmets should be worn and bicycles must be roadworthy. We don't carry out checks, but we expect parents to be responsible for the condition of their children’s bicycles. As the days get shorter, please ensure that steps are taken so that children are visible; lights on bicycles are essential.
Congratulations to A.Robinson Year 9 who attended a gymnastic competition in Paris. She had a great time and won two bronze medals. One was for her group routine (with 3 others) and one was for the routine done by the whole of her gym club.
The Rotary Shoe Box Appeal collection on Saturday 10th November was simply fabulous! Wildern managed to nearly double last year's total of 150 boxes to 294 boxes. The overall amount including our feeder schools and local charities that were taken from the D@rt was 669! WOW!!
The remembrance parade in Hedge End was really special and not only did the Head Boy and Head Girl do us proud but we saw so many of our students represented in the Scouts, Cadets, Guides etc... it was inspiring!
