Uplands Development Infrastructure – Woodhouse Lane Temporary Road Closure

Dear Resident,

Uplands Development Infrastructure – Woodhouse Lane Temporary Road

I am writing to let you know that Portsmouth Water will be starting work on
Woodhouse Lane to install a new water pipe under the road. The works are required
to allow the continued construction of highway infrastructure to support the Uplands
Farm Development and Botley Bypass projects and will require a full road closure
at the northern end of Woodhouse Lane for approximately three weeks. Owing
to the size of the new pipe to be installed, it is not possible to carry out the works
while any traffic remains on the carriageway. Closing the road also means that the
length of time for the closure, is kept to a minimum.

The closure will be in place from 09.00am Monday 19 April for three weeks and the
road is expected to reopen from Monday 10 May 2021. During this time, the road will
be closed to traffic from the junction of Woodhouse Lane at Winchester Street, as far
as the entrance of Hillier Garden Centre. Please note pedestrian access will be
maintained through the working area. Access to all properties and businesses will
also be maintained, and a signed diversion will be in place via the A334, Botley
Road, Tollbar Way and Winchester Road (B3354). Please see the diversion route
plan attached.

Every effort will be made to complete the works quickly to limit the duration of the
closure and I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any disruption
caused. Please note these are estimated timescales and further notification will be
given should there be any significant change to the dates. Should the works be
completed in advance of the three-week period the road will reopen sooner.
