Great Big School Clean 2019

On a chilly, grey Saturday morning, 62 parents, students and teachers came together to demonstrate to the community that we care about the local environment. In conjunction with the national Keep Britain tidy and #GBSpringClean month we held our own ‘Big School Clean’.

The participation by so many families and young people was heartwarming. Fuelled by some hot drinks we litter picked around the communal areas of our school site as well as along Wildern Lane. Amongst the 54 bags of rubbish we collected so much of it could have been recycled as there were 7 bags filled with plastic bottles alone!

As a Rights Respecting School, we understand the importance of protecting the environment. We want to inspire our young people to do the same and make a difference to the world in which we live which is why this litter pick is just the start in what will become a sustainable campaign to help keep our area tidy and reduce plastic waste.

We would love for even more families to be involved in our future events such as a beach clean and ongoing events we plan to hold here.
