Dear Parents and Carers

Today, we had confirmation that a student in Year 8 has tested positive for Covid-19.

Since being told this news this morning, we have been working very closely with the Department for Education’s public health team to determine what actions the school should take to keep our community safe. We have then checked classroom attendance records and seating plans to identify any student who has been within 2 metres of the student for 15 minutes or more.

This process identified 44 students who, in accordance with DfE instructions, must now stay at home and self-isolate.

We are working hard throughout school to continue ensure the health, safety and welfare of your child and family. We urge students to continue to practise social distancing, good hand and respiratory hygiene and the use of face coverings.

Should your child exhibit the following symptoms, they should remain at home and have a test:

• A high temperature

• A dry persistent cough

• A loss of taste/smell

If in doubt, err on the side of caution and contact the school.

We know that this development will raise questions for some of you and we have tried to pre-empt what these might be and provided answers below.

It is important that we communicate to students with calmness and perspective based upon facts and not upon speculation or conjecture.

I will keep you fully informed of all developments. Please take care of yourselves, your family and each other.

Best wishes

Mrs C Oakley
