Welcome back after half term in what is a very short term with lots to cram in. Already there has been a lot of successes both team and individual, much of which will be shared in the end of term newsletter.
There are a number of exciting annual events coming up, which many of you I know will be attending, most notably Rock Challenge at Portsmouth. This event is one that I always look forward to because of the large number of students involved on and off the stage. They have worked so hard over the last few months - they deserve to do well.
Thank you as always for your continued support with uniform, generally this is very good and students are responding well to any reminders. If you have popped into reception you will have seen the new skirt design of our Wildern uniform. This design will be launched with the new Year 7s as their expected uniform but will be available for other year groups if they wish to wear it. The new design will roll through to other year groups in the coming years.
It has been a busy week for Year 11 students with Pixl Wave exams in English and Maths, their second Parents evening, and final preparations for the Drama exams and collection of GCSE Art papers. We also launched the ‘Moirai Challenge’ and ‘Squares 2 Success’ competition with them. The football team also had a comfortable win in the Semi Final of the Hampshire Cup winning 7-1 against Crookhorn. The final will be against either Cowplain or Horndean.
It has also been a delight to see the growing numbers of Hockey players joining the Hockey club on a Monday after school. I have been tempted to bring my stick in, but not sure I have the skill or speed to keep up! The slower pace of golf seems to suit me better.
We are midway through our second set of PLR meetings and it has been a pleasure to meet some of you, as you have attended these important meetings. The PLRs continue until the 5th March.
Looking ahead next week we have an inter-house Master Chef competition which I will be judging, Rock Challenge, and Year 8 Pathways WINK evening on Wednesday at 6pm. Please keep an eye on the school calendar for other events. It is available on the school website and the Parent App.
We are also celebrating World Book Day on the 1st March and to support this the LRC have a “Blind date with a book”. Take out a book and you will be entered into our World Book Day Raffle. Prizes to be won…
Next week looks like it will be a cold one please ensure everyone is wrapped up warm for their journeys to, from and around school.
